HOOT ON THE RUN! Thomas Dunning's HOOT NIGHT: Chicago vs. Dublin Well, I've been here for just over 6 months now and FINALLY its time for Chicago's beloved Hoot Night to makes its debut in Dublin, IRELAND! On April 4th, 2003, the CHICAGO vs. DUBLIN Hoot Night hits town and I¹m sure the world will never be the same. Dublin has a rich and tasty music scene that could easily give Chicago a run for its money! Well, I'm hoping so anyway. I've been listening to wonderful music by wonderful artists here and I'm delighted to be able to gather up a gaggle of them to play songs by Chicago artists...oh yeah, and Dublin artists too! Each act will play 2 songs, one related to the theme of Chicago and one related to the theme of Dublin. It's going to be a great night and I wish all you Chicago Hooters could come over and enjoy it with us. Hey, I know! If you show up at the Hoot here in Dublin and present an airline ticket from Chicago, you¹ll get in FREE!!! The Dublin Hoot is
going to be launched in a swanky joint called "The Sugar Club"
at No. 8 Lower Leeson Street. Check out their web site and take the
virtual tour of the place at http://www.thesugarclub.com The performers for
the show (who have NO idea what they're getting into) are the creme
de la creme of Dublin¹s indie scene! You of course will recognize In addition to Settler,
some of the other folks performing include Neosupervital (Tim from Settler¹s
side project), The Dudley Corporation (they've actually PLAYED on Schubas
stage last year!), Michael Knight, Mumblin'Deaf Ro, Estel, Holy Ghost
Fathers, Capratone (Mike from Settler¹s side project), Playground
Psychotic (my friend Edel's band, picture a punk rock Liz Conant), The
Tycho Brahe (members of The Plague Monkeys, you would have heard their
music before and after Hoots in Chicago and on WLUW). Oh, Lastly, I just want to say thanks to all of those who came out to see the LOVE vs. HATE Hoot Night in February. It was a very special show for me to come home from Dublin to find everyone still enthusiastic about what we've created together. Thanks to my friends who performed so wonderfully and rejuvenated me to no end. Your songs are like oxygen... I hope to be home in October for another round, so until then thanks for following the Hoot, even though for right now it has to be from so far away. Peace and Love and more Peace, Thomas |
